Irrigation Research & Extension Committee Lifetime Achievement Award

In 2004, IREC instituted the Lifetime Achievement Award in Irrigation and the IREC Irrigators Hall of Fame.

The award recognises people who have contributed significantly to the advancement of irrigated agriculture in the Murrumbidgee Valley over many years. The efforts of these people have influenced the way that farming businesses operate, generate production and interact with their industry.

The Award will be granted as appropriate rather than on annual basis.

Marvin Amaro

• Pioneer grower of tomatoes, rockmelons, lettuce seed and maize in the Murrumbidgee Valley
• Innovator in irrrigation techniques
• Innovator in mechanisation
• Inaugural recipient of the IREC Lifetime Achievement Award
