This guide is based on the experience and knowledge of long-term double croppers and their advisors, and the results of a double cropping field trial conducted 200608. It also includes gross margins for the recommended crops, where the opportunity cost of water is considered. Developments in plant breeding, stubble management and sowing technology, and new markets for fodder, to name a few, have overcome issues previously considered barriers to double cropping in northern Victoria.
